BSc. (Hons) Construction Management is designed to prepare the candidates for a successful career in construction management. It is a comprehensive programme which incorporates various aspects of construction management with emphasis on process, analysis and detailed understanding of theories and methods applied in construction and development.
BSc. (Hons) Construction Management’s Programme Educational Objectives (PEO) believes all individual can excel, and the program aims to nurture an ethical, dynamic and competitive construction project practitioners in supporting the university's vision to become a premier university of academic excellence and the national aspiration of transforming the construction industry. It is the focus of the programme to make our graduates employable as soon as they graduate. As such, the curriculum is designed to inculcate as much practicality and real-life simulation.
It is a comprehensive programme which incorporates various aspects of construction management with emphasis on process, analysis and detailed understanding of theories and methods applied in construction and development. The programme was formally known as Bachelor of Construction Management (Hons). The programme is offered on full time and part time basis. The part time (out-campus) mode of study is offered to the candidates with diploma qualification only. The minimum duration of study for part-time is three years. A semester period is applied with 14 weeks of study, one week of study leave, two weeks of final examination. The classes are conducted night time on the weekdays.
The programme prepares the graduates for wide range of careers in the areas of the design and management of the construction process. With the rising urbanisation, the graduates have high favourable future prospects in construction industry. In term of employability, graduates of Construction Management programme are highly sought after in private sectors as project manager, site manager, construction manager and development manager. Graduates also have career opportunities in public sectors like Public Works Department, State Economic Development Corporations, Local Authorities and government development agencies.
