Along with the class-based ensembles (Junior and Senior sections of both Band and Strings), we have a number of groups that rehearse outside of the regular school day. These ensembles make regular appearances at Lawrence Park's school assemblies and events, including Remembrance Day, Black History Month, Grade 8 Night, Football Homecoming game, Commencement, and various other noteworthy events.
Concert Band
From Bach to Billie Eilish, we play it all! Concert Band is a full wind, brass, and percussion ensemble. Recently, Concert Band has participated in OBA (Ontario Band Association) and MusicFest! The ensemble's repertoire includes a wide variety of classical pieces, marches, and adaptations of popular classics like select pieces from The Greatest Showman, Star Wars, and more!
Symphonic Strings
Classical elegance meeting modern pop... Symphonic Strings is a full stringed ensemble featuring violins, violas, cellos and double basses. Recently, symphonic strings has participated in OSA (Ontario Strings Association). Repertoire contains melodies from contrasting eras such as classical music and modern pop.
Concert Choir
Where voices unite, harmony is born. Concert Choir is a full choir split into 4 vocal sections (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass). Concert Choir has recently participated in OVF (Ontario Vocal Festival). Repertoire varies from traditional choral works, new music, and contemporary pop.
Junior Band
Every great musician starts with a single note. Junior band is an in-class band that rehearses during class time. Repertoire mirrors that of Concert Band with pieces of grade-appropriate difficulty, but still challenge students to improve!
Junior Strings
The journey to musical excellence begins here, welcoming students at every level. Junior Strings, much like Junior Band, is an in-class string ensemble. Junior Strings focuses on classical and contemporary string arrangements with aim to improve personal and performance ability.
Stage Band
Stage Band is a high level ensemble exploring Jazz, Blues, Latin and Soul. Structured as a traditional stage band, it consists of trumpets, saxophones (alto, tenor & baritone), trombones, guitars, bass, piano, drums, and vocalists.
House Band
This student-led and arranged ensemble brings pop culture classics to life, spanning hits from ABBA to Adele. Featuring instruments from every ensemble – piano, electric guitar, saxophones, trumpet, vocals and more – students collaborate to create dynamic and engaging performances.
