There are many ways to protect and prevent harm against the Iberian lynx.
While visiting Doñona National Park, Spain, be aware of where you are driving and how fast. In 2003, 14 Iberian lynx were killed by automobiles (Suarez L, 2004). While it is a National Park and well known not to hunt or fish, people often try to poach deer for their meat but end up injuring or killing lynx instead, so don’t hunt or set traps for any animals in the national forest. One of the main causes that led to the decreasing number of lynx population is habitat degradation, fragmentation and destruction due to human activity such as urbanization and palm or eucalyptus plantations (Augustin, J., 2021). Another way to help the Iberian lynx is to avoid supporting agricultural and industrial businesses who have urbanized the lynx’s habitat. And finally donate to the World Wide Fund and/or the Wildlife Conservation Society that works towards protecting the Iberian lynx from extinction (WWF, n.d.).
