We are Difference Makers (yr8)

Designing a usable app

In this year we will design a usable app. A working program. But firstly to start we put our ideas in a padlet.

In this image next to this text is the start of out ideas. We numbered the importance of each idea. Here is a link to the padlet for a better view. https://padlet.com/paiwannborr2028/gzoncwuskiy6gofa

We later used a template for a better detailed planning.

We placed images on how we wanted our app to look like such as the colour scheme, fonts, shapes and more.

Exploring AI

We later explored AI and let them generate our brand names based on our app.

These 3 are the ones I choose and edited.

Then we pasted all three as anonymous and let our classmates vote to choose our final name.

Onkyo was my final brand name choice. So I designed a logo for my app.

First we explored other apps such as photoshop but it didn't end well for me. so I stuck with procreate.

Planning

This is the starting page. The first thing you see while loading into the app. There will be a nice quality splash art.

This the home screen where you could choose the options. Most pages will have white space to draw the attention of things that we want to be clicked and it won't be too messy. I made the background fade and round edges for a dreamy effect. This is consistent through the app so it builds trust with my user.

This is a loading screen for whenever you click the options. I am planning to make a loading animation.

This is a scrollable page for when you choose the food/ recipe page with instructions etc.

The search bar is at the bottom for easy reach.

This is the page when you click any recipe. It has descriptions, step by step instructions, ingredients and images etc.

The info page is to inform the users this app's purpose or what it is used for.

Most pages will have a fixed home screen button at the top left because most languages read from left to right.

This setting page will have options such as a help button where they can ask questions or type feedbacks or any bugs.

Lowering background music or noise.

Etc.

Making the App

Our app is made on an app called glide. Glide provides us a template so the process of making the app is more simplified.  Glide teaches us how use google sheets or keep data.

The sign in page.

Categories page

When clicked on a category recipes are shown according to the category.

Recipes page

Details according to the recipes. When liked it appears in favorites.

Favorites page with recipes you've liked.

Blackbox Testing

We made a google form for google to test our designs without any knowledge of the app which is why it is called 'black box'. Here are some snippets of my google form. The link to it is right here: https://forms.gle/2oYSATSqKB5idtog6

We made a google form asking the basics of questions for our app to work and the controls or instructions are provided in the form.

Marketing

For marketing we explored a.i. from the app called Adobe Firefly which is a picture generator made from your descriptions.  The ending products, I combined the use of procreate (to add the brand name) and the ai generated pictures.

Ver. 1

A cool font used to display the brand but a bit hard to read because it's mostly vertical.

Ver. 2

The new version is more readable.

These other pictures were backup or other options for the marketing.
