The first step is to use the marker pen to start color in the shape and add some shadow to the shape. I feel like I could improve on using markers or black pencil to create shadows.
The second step I started using black pencil to shade and add more tone to the shape to create shadow. Personally, I think my problem is I use unconnected lines to color the shape and I also think I needed to use more black pencil for the shadow.
I already finished the work and from the last one you can clearly see that I went back and added more shadow to the shape. Moreover, I also use the marker to repeat to make the line connect.
