The 2D basic shapes

The 2D Basic Shapes & Rendering sheet combines 2D shapes, using centre lines for symmetry, with marker pen applied to convey shadows and 3D form.

Process

Firstly, i started with using a 0.7 blue pencil to sketch out all the outlines and sketch marks on a (i was told that it's a) special piece of marker paper. I drew 14 different shapes in total. Then i used a 0.5 fine line pen for the outside of the shapes and a 0.3 for all the supporting lines. During my third lesson, i used a maker pen(W3) to add all the colors and shadows in.

I still remember that I tried 11 marker pens, and they were all dried out. Finally, on my 12th attempt, I got the one that works:)

Outcome!

The last step was using a soft black pencil to add shades to the edges. Not  hard at all! But i rushed in the last 10 minutes.

Personally i think the final outcome is pretty good.

Spider technique

if a spider is on an object and travelled to somewhere that we cannot see anymore, the edges then should be darker.

Marker rendering 2D hand held whisks

All of the concept ideas are mixtures of the basic shapes but with curved sides in many cases. The addition of buttons, handles, rounds, air vents etc. will test us how to control the markers more effectively. The use of shadows is particularly important as well as subtle use of black pencil to get the depth with the markers.

Marker render

on the left hand side is the template for the hand held whisks...

I started rendering it using marker pens, and implying every techniques we learnt on the previous sheet (2D basic shapes...)

credit: Narna! Who provided this photo since i forgot to take a picture of it at the beginning...

Above is the unfinished sheet that I only used marker pens but not yet shadows/highlights

l love the colors of this particular whisk, also the button really seems stand out and I rendered it pretty well.

the darkened colors and the shadows creates a sunken feeling.

I really liked it.

Fully finished!

Im actually quite satisfied with my results!

also on the left hand side it is the one that I would say it's particularly unique (cool); obviously; because of the gradients! However it was created accidentally since I used the wrong color at the top(too dark)!!
