WEEK 1
Reflective Journal: This week we have looked at Idents, as Idents are very Iconic. Idents shows you what Program/ show your watching.
I feel like I did a very good amount of work, the work we did wasn't too hard and it was really straight forward so I able to complete the tasks swiftly.
I haven't.
For this week I have completed everything.
Short of the Week. 2022. Oscar's Bell by Chris Cronin | Horror | Short Film. [online] Available at: <https://www.shortoftheweek.com/2020/03/27/oscars-bell/> [Accessed 26 September 2022].
Oscar's Bell is a really well made movie, It doesn't have much dialogue which makes this movie really good. The sound use was really good, the sounds were long and creepy and also a lot of Loud sound just out of know where which gave a lot of tension. All the little detail is really good, with the blood and usage of Animals, well trained animals as the Dog did everything perfectly.
Short of the Week. 2022. The Backrooms by Kane Pixels | A Creepypasta Horror Short. [online] Available at: <https://www.shortoftheweek.com/2022/03/29/the-backrooms/> [Accessed 26 September 2022].
The Backrooms is done really well as it is mainly CGI but they made it look really realistic with the glitch effect and the POV. The backrooms is a strange place, the Creatures that were introduced are perfect for the backrooms, as the backrooms is a place that is unknown. And also how to get there is unknown. The Short Film is really well made with the transitions and Camera Work, there is a lot of very Intense moments which makes your heart to start to pump.
Short of the Week. 2022. A Doll Distorted by Niall Shukla | Horror | Short Film. [online] Available at: <https://www.shortoftheweek.com/2020/10/26/a-doll-distorted/> [Accessed 26 September 2022].
This movie was well made. I has a lot of re-used clips, but they made it fit in pretty well, I didn't really enjoy it as this was 15minutes long, this short film could be shortened to about 9min which would have been way better. The idea of the video was really good, and it has been executed decently.
Youtube.com. 2022. [online] Available at: <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bmKc97wDTI> [Accessed 26 September 2022].
With the character development it is important to do it in your own way, to make the character you have to give it part of your personality. and just give the character a type of emotion. Creating a character like this makes the character feel alive, he has the emotion, he isn't just some drawn on character with no emotion and no physical behavior. The character needs depth into his personality. The best way to create characters is to speak to people ask them question, see how different people act. Using real peoples personalities give you the opportunity to create a great character. As long as the audience has a specific feeling to the character you could say that the Character is somewhat complete.

Week 2
Reflective Journal:
This is my little LOGO, nice and quick, made with 3 shapes.
Updated:
BEST SHOTS
This is a waist level shot, I really like this scene as it includes the Investigator and also includes the Monster who makes people go missing.
This shot is really good, this is called the eye level shot. What is so good about the shot is that you can play around and edit this shot how ever you like, because of the green screen.
This shot is called the Ankle level shot, this shot is a opening shot to our sequence. The Main character falls over which makes its really interesting.
Worst Shots
This shot is a good shot as its a POV/ vlog shot/ close up, but its not the best so its ranked at the bottom of all shots we took
This is also the same shot but different scene. All of the scene are well made, but this POV/ Vlog shot doesn't look too neat compared to the other scenes.
This is during editing.
Finished Sequence.
Title Inspiration.
Title Making
There was a little problem with the Title as I lost the first Title, which lead to me making another one, I liked the first one but this one has came out pretty well.
Evaluation
In this project we were asked to make a Horror/ Thriller Sequence, that had to be within 60 to 90 seconds long. We had 2 weeks on planning, and 1 week to record, and 1 week to edit. This was a decent amount of time to have most of the stuff finished. There were many groups and that had to do the same project, we were put into groups of four. When we were planning and we were gathering ideas we used, brain storms, we used storyboards to help us with the story line of our Horror Sequence. We had to give proof of our Locations where we are going to record so we made Locations Reece’s.
The equipment that we used was a Tripod, Camera and some props. The audio is used from the Internet which is Harvard Referenced. Most of the Sequence is Diegetic, we do have non-diegetic but it’s really faint. It does make the Sequence sound better when there is no speaking.
I researched some movies that have the same vibes as our sequence, the Movie is called ‘As Above So Below’. I tried to use some of the shots that they have used in the movie, like the angle level shot, POV, over the shoulder shot. Also I have looked at more than 1 movie so, I also looked at ShortOfTheWeek. Which also gave me a lot of options. We were able to be creative with our film making and make a film that would be unique. I still wanted to use a large variety of scenes but I was not able to use all of them as we had a time limit.
I knew a lot about horror and thriller, but the thing that I’ve learnt about the horror genre is that to have a good Horror movie, it’s better to have less dialogue than more.
The way I have contributed is I have spoken to my group, I helped giving ideas, and what shots we could use, and with that, we managed to get to know each other, which is a plus. I have created the story board, with the help of others members from my group. We all contributed with the Brainstorm also, we all wrote on it giving each other’s ideas and adapting them into better ideas. In my group the technical work like filming and acting and stuff like that, I did some of the roles. I was an actor like a Investigator, I also recorded some shots that we have used in the sequence. Our teamwork was really good and we did well as a group.
The software that I have used this year were Premier Pro and After Effects. I am very confident using Premier Pro, and now I am getting used to After Effects which seems really fun at the moment.
The strengths that I used in my work are being able to adapt ideas to create better one, use of footage to the best of its potential. The area that I had to try is to fit a lot of scenes into the time period of 1min 30sec. Which make me think that I have to make a fast pace Sequence so that I have more shots in the Sequence.
My website is on the right tracks, all of the work is uploaded on the websites, the work is usually uploaded on the same day it is finished. I try to make the website quite neat so that it’s really easy to navigate.
I think the area I would have to be the research part, which I’m not really good at, but the way I could improve is by doing more work, and getting used to all of the researching on things that would help me in the future, this could possibly help me create better work, as I could use the research to my advantage. In my movie I would do a lot of adjustments, if there wasn’t a time limit, but I don’t overdo small sequence.
The new skills that I have been able to use is just how to use after effects, but I’m not too confidant with it yet, as I watch YouTube videos so that helps me Find out new ways of editing. I love watching other peoples project/ examples as I love trying new things which benefits me as I try a lot when I edit. I think that that’s the only research I like the most at the moment, which is ‘How to…’ videos.
The skills that I managed to develop in this assignment is better editing management, and new shots ideas that can which will always come handy in the future.
The part of the Assignment that I enjoyed the most is the Editing, as it’s the main thing I always look forward to in every lesson, It just that I know if I get some footage I can make it my own piece, I love being creative, and I love sharing it around, I like when people find my stuff Amusing.
I feel that my work can always be better, but as I would say I’m still a Rookie, I am always happy with my work.
The Feedback that I got was quite positive like: ‘I really like the use of music when action is happening’ and like: ‘The Film was enjoyable to watch. Some parts a bit loud but that can easily be changed. Also, the filter on the film looked good.’
The skills that I would like to improve on is to get better at using effects on AFX, which would help me in future projects. The main thing I'm looking out for in software's is how they all work and how I could use the effects to my advantage.
Feedback from Tutors:
