Week 7 Reflection (Pre-Submission Develop Milestone)

What is working...

Most of the time towards the Develop milestone was spent sketching and ideating what could work and iterate different possible way of seating options. I realised at this point it was crucial to direct focus towards one of the design interventions for the Autonomous Vehicle i.e. - Interior focus or Exterior Focus. As most of the research and time was directed towards privacy and accessibility opportunities. After considering both, I was more interested how we use and package the space inside a vehicle. Although, the project from here on focuses towards interior solutions and option, it does define how the exterior will together. For instance, Accessibility can be influenced by both - how the seats are placed and what type of door and entry equips the vehicle. Hence, there was few consideration made for different type of door and seat mechanism, both being a key defining element for 'Accessibility'.

What did not work or needs more work...

I thoroughly enjoy the process of generating new ideas from discovered opportunities, insights and data and this week involved a good amount of sketching possible solutions which helped me obtain some useful feedback from my peers and supervisors. Although, the sketches represent potential solution for privacy within the seating space, the scale and rotating function of these partitions still needs to be resolved. At this point, being a possible solution I do have to consider overall space and comfort which each seat can offer (being a 4 seater vehicle). Moreover, the system/application design for the display within vehicle and app needs to be developed to a higher fidelity prototype. In this week, I consider it important to take all aspects of my project which require development to be listed out and have a project plan and scope for how much time needs to be spent on each individual aspect. With the development so far it can be stated the core focus of the project is with design development of the interior and resolve any challenges which come along the way to achieve the proposed design.
