OUR BIGGEST ROCKET EVER!
Chungus Maximus is a 12 ft. rocket powered by a central L motor and two J motors designed by Nick Lototsky, one of our most prolific flyers. Assisting with the effort, Jasiel Martinez, Paul Lototsky, Michael Rios-Tolano, and even Mr. Mills, the team got this monster into the air to 3,000 ft. at the LDRS launch festival at Lucerne Dry Lake in June.
A big thank you to our principal, Ms. Coleman for helping us make this happen!

How about that flame!
Not bad for Sato made propellant.
Touch down, nice and easy
A lovely day in the desert
Our Aerospace Dragons heads out to Friends of Amateur Rocketry (FAR) out in Ransburg, CA to launch the various rocket we brought.
Most notably, 2 TARC Teams did practice flights to prepare themselves for qualifications.
TARC Team 20-6854: Izabel Vallejo, Alfonso Salas, Gerardo Villegas, and Kylie Calderon and TARC Team 20-6855: Nicholas Lototsky, Steven Lau-Robles, and Antoine Palacios did great on their practice flights!
Sato Aerospace went to Downtown Long Beach today to participate in the CANstruction LB challenge with M4 Engineering! This was an amazing experience for both the students, the teachers, the principal, and the Engineers from M4 Engineering
Thank you to Seniors; Kylie Calderon, Antoine Palacios, Gerardo Villegas, Junior; Obiora Okeke , and Sophomore; Nicholas Lototsky for helping out!
Thank you to the advisors; Albert Gallo and James Mills and our principal, Mona Merlo.
Also thank you Dan Abir and fellow engineers from M4 Engineering for inviting us to the competition. We are very honored to have the opportunity to help out with such a great cause.
The rocket will be displayed for 2 weeks and the structure will be dismantled. The cans will be donated to FoodFinders.
On Saturday, August 17, students from across the US, including the Sato Academy “Quad-dragons” Drone Team (coached by Albert Gallo and Will Chesher) competed in the UAS4STEM’s Search and Rescue national competition held at the Academy of Model Aeronautics in Muncie, Indiana. The Sato team took 2nd place and was awarded $1500. The team members; Tasha Adler, Alexis Salazar, Youliana Boutros, Stephen Salazar, and Henry Samala
Our Dragons hosted our first summer camp for 2019. It was an amazing experience for the campers that attended our camp. A special thanks to the Drone Team Advisor Mr. Gallo & drone team members Tasha, Stephen, Youliana, Henry, and Alexis for running the camp. Also, thanks to Mrs. Gallo, Kylie C. and Omar L. for helping out at the camp!
Our Aerospace Dragons were quite busy this weekend! Sato's QuadDragons team went to San Diego to compete in the Regional Competition for the UAS4STEM challenge. The team took First Place! Aside from winning the Regional competition, the team had the second highest score in the nation! This is a good sign for the national Competition! Congrats to Stephen, Alexis, Tasha, Youliana, and Henry for taking first place as a team. Thank you to the drone team advisors, Mr. Gallo and Mr, Chester for mentoring the students!
One of our newest members, Obi Okeke, successfully designed, built, and flew the largest rocket our club has produced to date.
The 7' 2" rocket named Obi Airlines Extreme flew on a J150 motor to 5,475 feet! It was as beautiful flight and a nice gentle landing in a small bush.
Congrats to Obi, who earned his Mile High Flight patch!
On May 18th, 2019, Sato Academy was at the Long Beach Science and Engineering fair to show off the cool stuff we do!
Thank you to the student volunteers who made a great impression with the public and represented Sato well.
Our Dragons (and some distinguished guests) went over to Long Beach Airport to participate in the Experimental Aircraft Association's (EAA) Young Eagles Program.
The goal of the Young Eagles program is to give students the opportunity to ride in an aircraft primarily for First-Time flyers and educate students how a plane works and flies.
14 students were fortunate enough to participate in this year's event! Some students were able to even fly the airplane itself for a short time. Congrats to all who participated. This is the second time Sato Aerospace has participated in the Young Eagles event.
This year's Drag(on) Race! is our second annual rocket drag race with seven flyers who attempted to reach 400 feet in the fastest time possible without passing 500 feet.
Small and fast is the name of the game.
Congrats to Nick who placed first with a time of 2.15 seconds and beat the teachers!
Five to six times a year, Firebreather Rocketry goes out to the Friends of Amateur Rocketry (FAR) launch site to fly rockets that are too large and fly too high to launch within city limits. This month's trip was a small group but still eventful. Rocketry Vice-President Alfonso Salas passed his Junior Level One Certification for his rocket. Congrats Alfonso!
Approximately every month or two, FireBreather Rocketry goes out the desert and fly rockets. This time, the R/C Flight Club went out with the DJI Mavic Pro to film the launches. It was a cool experience!
