Established in 2016, Sato Academy's Firebreather Rocketry engages students in rocketry projects that promote engineering, design creativity, fabrication, and project management skills, as well as space exploration and the New Space industry.
Using their engineering and design skills acquired during their regular courses, our members use CAD/CAM, simulators, and their knowledge from their physical science classes to design rockets that solve a specific design problem.
Sato's engineering labs are equipped with many tools and equipment such as 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC mills, and lathes. From composite body tubes to printed electronics scaffolding, most of our rocket parts, shown above, are made in-house. If our members can imagine it, we can make it happen.
There's nothing like a launch trip to the desert! 5 to 6 times per year, our club flies with the Rocketry Organization of California (ROC) or at the Friends of Amateur Rocketry (FAR) launch site, where we often talk with the college rocket teams. Many of our members have earned their high-powered certification from the National Association of Rocketry (NAR).

Learning about collegiate rocket programs is one of our goals. We are always interested in tours, speakers, collaboration, or a show-and-tell at the launch site. Contact us about your college or university rocket program! Our members could become your members.
