What does NJROTC stand for? - Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps
When days do we come dressed in uniform? - Mainly every other Monday, depending on the weather
Does NJROTC give PE credit? - Yes, by participating in the program, you earn the PE credit needed to graduate
Do students become liable to military obligation? - No they do not, as NJROTC is only an elective course and educational program
Will NJROTC help me in the future? - The NJROTC program can be of great benefit for students who remain in the program for 3-4 years and are seeking a career in any branch of the military. It can also benefit those seeking a service academy nomination.
Do NJROTC cadets participate in extracurricular activities? - Our cadets are encouraged to participate in various competitions involving our drill teams, color guard teams, academics teams, and physical fitness teams. Students may also participate in community service events, field trips, and attend school functions as a unit (such as: football games, school sports events, homecoming, military ball, etc.)
How much does it cost to be in NJROTC? - It will cost you nothing to be in NJROTC. Cadets are provided with uniforms, books, and training at no cost.
How do I become a cadet? - speak with your guidance counselor and ask to register for Naval Science
Will I be required to commit to NJROTC for all four years of high school? - You have no obligation to remain in the program if you do not wish to do so. This means, you can stay in the program for as long as you want during the four year period. However, by staying in the program and participating in unit activities, cadets may be given the opportunity to assume leadership positions within the program.
Do I have to wear a uniform? - Yes, you will be required to wear the issued uniform on the designated dress days. Your uniform will be inspected to see that it is clean, complete, and properly worn. Uniform inspections are graded and are a part of your overall grade. Failure to dress on a uniform dress day will impact your grade negatively.
What if I am absent on a scheduled uniform inspection day? - If you are absent on a designated uniform dress day you can wear your uniform the next academic day in order to receive credit. Failure to make up the missed uniform inspection by the next inspection day will result in a final grade of zero for the missed inspection.
