For Delegates
Remember that MUN is supposed to be fun! It can be scary to debate in front of a class with many students but remember that most students are nervous before delivering a speech. MUN is just for fun and for us to learn as well as practice public speaking, research, and teamwork skills! It is okay to make mistakes as long as you try your best!
Be prepared! What really helps to ease the nerves in an MUN conference is to feel prepared by having proper research. The debate will be more fun if you feel like you can contribute and be an active delegate!
Research thoroughly: Know your country's position on the topics/times, and some key data points, and make a bibliography with sources used.
Understand UN procedures: Familiarise yourself with the rules, committee structure, vocabulary, and protocols.
Build Blocs: Network with delegates, find common ground, and collaborate on resolutions.
Public speaking: Being clear and concise is more impactful.
Writing resolutions: Propose realistic solutions that encourage collaboration amongst delegations.
