HHS School Counseling - Hudson Early College

Hudson Early College is a partnership between Hudson High School and Worcester State University (WSU). This partnership provides opportunities for students to experience college level course work and earn college credits from WSU, explore career options, develop employability skills, and be supported by Hudson High School and WSU faculty and staff.

The goals of Hudson Early College are:

To break down barriers between high school and higher education,
To prepare HHS students for college and careers, and
To provide an opportunity for HHS students to graduate from HHS having already earned 12 college credits.

Who is Hudson Early College for?

Hudson Early College is an opportunity that is open to all Hudson High School students. Students who are historically underrepresented in college are strongly encouraged to participate in this program.

Why Hudson Early College?

Early College students have the advantage of a smoother transition between high school and the college of their choice. They develop a college-level mentality sooner than their peers, which can help them handle college workloads and balance school and a social life. This will be especially beneficial since many students have trouble adjusting to college during their first year.

What are the Benefits of Hudson Early College?

Save Money: Participation in this program is 100% free (tuition, books, events, etc.…all at no cost to Hudson Early College program students)
Dual Credit: HHS Students fulfill Hudson High School and Mass Core graduation requirements while taking college classes.
College Credit: HHS Students earn college credit while still in high school.
Save Time: Graduating from HHS with college credits allows students to complete their college degrees sooner.
College-Ready Criteria: HHS Students develop a deeper understanding of what it takes to be college-ready.
Transferability: WSU credits earned with a "C" or better can be transferred to most state (and some private) colleges and universities in Massachusetts.
Career Exposure: HHS Students learn about a variety of career opportunities.
Supports: Students have access to mentors, tutoring services, and college resources.
