RMS AVID Coordinators and Site Team review a list of potential AVID Candidates. (Potential AVID Candidates are gathered through data provided by the district, teacher recommendations, and student interest forms.)
To determine potential program fit, student grades, attendance record, classroom behavior, motivation, strengths and areas of need are reviewed.
Students that are considered potential candidates (and their guardians) are encouraged to apply to the AVID program.
The application is digital and will require the student and a guardian to complete.
After reviewing the applications and teacher recommendations, eligible students (and guardians) are contacted for an interview. The interview will be used to further determine program eligibility and program fit.
Once selections have been made, applicants and their guardians will be notified of the final decision. The program coordinators will work with the school counselors to ensure selected 7th & 8th grade students are placed in the AVID elective and their chosen course of rigor.
