For this Entry Event, we followed a basic outline: presentation/story, request/challenge, and real world role. I told a compelling story to connect with students. Moving is a constant part of a military child's life. I established a purpose for our project- to help other children moving to our community. And lastly I gave then the real world role to take on- become an author and illustrator.
Since this was our first project of the year, we lead the students through the project a little differently. Each student first created their own home, then were grouped into the neighborhoods they lived in to connect their houses and build their neighborhood, finally each chose a community landmark or building to create as a team. We then brought all of the elements together to complete the model of Ft. Bragg.
Each step was photographed by the students. the end result; Our Town Ft. Bragg.
