If there are any questions, please contact the AAFES Pacific Administrator:
The Student Meal Program (SMP) follows U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) guidelines and regulations and our purpose is to provide wholesome, nutritious meals to children daily. DoDEA schools serve over seven million meals annually in the United States and overseas.
In the Pacific, the SMP is operated by a School Food Authority (SFA) and is responsible for following USDA regulations, guidelines, and requirements. While not the only SFA in the Pacific, the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (The Exchange) is the largest provider of student meals on military installations. The Exchange also provides Free and Reduced-Price meals to students who qualify under Federal Guidelines. Additionally, in certain areas the school lunch program is run by the Navy Exchange (NEX) or Marine Corps Community Service (MCCS) . Each District in the Pacific (South, East, and West), can provide more information on eligibility for the program.
The Department of Defense Participates in the National School Lunch Program. This program is a federally subsidized program and your dependents may be eligible to receive free or reduced priced meals. Your children may qualify for free or reduced price meals if your household income falls at or below the limits on the chart below (Note: Housing Allowances and COLA is NOT considered income in overseas areas).
All parents need to apply/re-apply each school year for the Free and Reduced Price Lunch Program.
Families who apply and are qualified receive free or reduced price meals.
Free/Reduced Lunch Applications for those children who were in the system last year must be renewed each year within the first thirty (30) calendar days of the school year if the benefit is to continue into the new school year.
