Looking for a volunteer opportunity? Maybe you just love books and libraries? Have a few minutes before picking your child up or dropping them off? Want to learn cool library skills to impress friends and family? If you answered to any of these, please stop by the AES library or front office to volunteer! We need help with:
Working with pre-school and kinder students, on how to select and check-out books
shelving books (I'll teach you - it's great fun and you get to "shop" for books to check out)
"reading" shelves - making sure the books are back where they are supposed to be
setting up student projects
creating cool and fun displays
or, if there's something you want to do, want to suggest, let me know!
Want to help children select the right book for them? Do you have 15-30 minutes, a day or two a week, to read aloud to a very small group of children?
The kinder and first graders are just learning library skills and navigation. They need a bit of support in finding and selecting books, but with just one adult in the library during their visits, it is difficult to give them the time they need. I am hoping for:
parents who can come once a week or more, particularly first semester
Any time between 1:50-2:20
take a small group of children (1-4), and help select books and read books to them
training and real-time support will be provided
