In a growth mindset, people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment. Virtually all great people have had these qualities.
Teaching a growth mindset creates motivation and productivity in the worlds of business, education, and sports. The idea is that when we fail, we keep attempting and we learn.
One of my favorite parts of the Growth Mindset is the power of "yet" - the idea that we don't say, "I am bad at foreign languages (for example)", but we say "I haven't learned this foreign language, YET". Try it and see if you don't agree that it gives you power to learn rather than setting you up for failure.
