Welcome Back to School!

Dear Sigonella Elementary Families,

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! I’m Ms. McKown, your child’s 2nd-grade teacher, and I’m thrilled to begin another exciting year of learning and growing together here at beautiful Sigonella Elementary School in Sicily.

In our classroom, we’ll be diving into engaging lessons that support College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS), with a strong focus on 21st Century Skills, student agency, and rigorous academic expectations. Through inquiry-based learning, differentiated instruction, and a commitment to social-emotional development, we’ll create a safe and supportive environment where every child can thrive.

This year, we’ll also be emphasizing data-informed instruction and collaborative learning, helping students build confidence, independence, and a love for learning. I’m excited to partner with you to ensure your child has a successful and joyful school experience.
