In my concluding year, I am pleased to have identified and honed in on my passion in the field of economics and finance.
I explored this in two projects, the first being an essay and the second, a collaboration project with a financial advisor in creating a book.
At the beginning of this year, I explored the disproportionate effects of inflation on specific demographic segments. This exploration ultimately evolved into a comprehensive essay, serving as my year-end Senior Thesis.
This essay delves into the examination of inflation in the context of Australia. It scrutinizes its ramifications, underlying causes, and the tactics employed by the Reserve Bank to address it. The focal point of the essay is the intricate relationship between inflation and various socioeconomic groups. It also offers insights into alternative approaches for addressing inflation, advocating for increased corporate involvement and innovative solutions as part of a well-rounded economic strategy.
This Senior Thesis was a very exciting project being the development of a financial educational resource catered for 16-19 year olds as an easily accessible and dependable resource. This thesis project has been a collaboration between myself and Kate McCallum, a financial advisor and director at Multiforte Financial Services who has also been my mentor for the past two years we have progressively gathered insights. data and refined the essential knowledge that this age group can utilise practically.
Throughout this process, we conducted interviews, surveys, questionnaires, meetings and networking within the community. We gathered information from diverse sources to create a highly valuable book that I am excited to share. I have enjoyed working alongside Kate on this project and have gained valuable insights and knowledge from her during the entire process. Having the opportunity to work with an expert has offered a learning experience I would not have been able to access elsewhere.
Looking ahead to the end of the year, I anticipate nothing more rewarding than having completed work that holds practical utility in something I can share with future generations, friends, and family. I feel very grateful to have found a project that is embedded in my passions and interests and one that I feel can have a true impact on myself and my learning, as well as others.
The Young Money project is still underway and was originally aimed to be finalised by December however, due to recent developments and expansion, we are thrilled to see the project's continued growth and expansion beyond our initial expectations. This means the project's finish date has been pushed back because of the scale we are trying to reach.
