The Bee-Hind The Scene Heroes project was initiated by myself Audrey and my peer Isabel. Throughout its duration, we have continuously developed and refined our project, acquiring knowledge along the way. Our project's objective is the enhancement of designated garden areas at the school's entrance, which we have landscaped with the assistance of the school gardener, Baily, Clara from the permaculture group, and suggestions from CEN. In these areas, we have planted native flora to create an aesthetically pleasing display and a fantastic habitat for native bees which we have also promoted with the creation and placement of our bee homes using bamboo, bricks and wood.
Our overarching goal is to contribute to environmental preservation, driven by our growing appreciation for the significance of bees in our ecosystem and agricultural production. We are particularly concerned about the challenges the bee population currently faces, such as the presence of the Varroa mite in our area and the effects of urbanization, among other reasons that are contributing to a decline in bee population and subsequent pollinationof flora.
This experience has been simultaneously enlightening and challenging. I deeply appreciate the chance to acquire knowledge and be a member of such a nurturing community, where numerous individuals have extended their help throughout this journey. I am delighted with the achievements of our project and eagerly anticipate its continued growth and success.
