Lyn Lapid has had a meteoric rise to fame since her first music video posts on TikTok in 2019. She is a 18yr old American singer songwriter from Baltimore, Maryland.
The song I’m going to animate is “Producer Man’, which has an interesting back story to its creation. Following her initial success on TikTok, she had a producer in the music industry reach out to her and explore the possibility of collaboration. Sadly, his view of how best to proceed did not coincide with hers and she felt strongly about not producing music that she didn’t like herself just to get ahead. The song focuses on how producers can exploit those artists working with/for them and how their motivations may differ..his being money, and lots of it. She said she ‘posted it to remind myself what I value…but I didn’t expect it to blow up as much as it did.’
She started out doing covers of songs, playing her ukulele and posting on YouTube and Instagram (she has over 265,000 followers on both.
Since her Producer Man hit was released, she has clearly found some worthy collaborators in the industry, signing a deal with Republic Records and is co-managed by Alex Bender and Jesse Coren both big hitters in the industry.
her vocals have been described as ‘insanely good’ and ‘candy for our ears.’
I want to create a music video that animates her words and visualises the story. I’m using a kind of ‘monopoly’ man as the producer and the girl is innocent and partly fragile, so he can exploit her vulnerabilities.
