2025 Game Animation
Weekly Build Season Updates
Week 1 Recap: 1/6/25 - 1/11/25 : Kickoff Week! The majority of this week was spent brainstorming ideas for how we would approach the given tasks in REEFSCAPE. At our meetings this week, we started off with discussing what we wanted to do with the game. In other words, what tasks did we want to complete in that short amount of time. Once we had decided on that as a team, we began designing prototypes. Simultaneously, some of our members started assembling the new swerve modules that we purchased for this year in order to have a test bot for our programmers. Next week, our goal is to finish our prototypes, finalize designs, and start building our robot. - Nikhil V.
Week 2 Recap: 1/13/25 - 1/18/25: This week, we began to actually build the prototypes that we had designed from last week in order to test the viability of our ideas. Furthermore, we continued designing the other parts of our robot on CAD. Meanwhile, programming wise, we looked into our past year's code and tried to make sure that everything works by testing it on our practice bot. On top of that, we started our awards for this season by assembling a small awards subcommittee. Next week, we hope to decide on the final design of our robot and start building! Meanwhile, we also hope to finish our Impact Award essays for submission. - Nikhil V.
Week 3 Recap: 1/20/25 - 1/25/25: This week we were really productive in the CAD aspect we have the whole robot fully CAD'ed and also have good prototypes of the coral intake and algae intake next is to build the chassis of the robot and come up with a theme- Saket M.
Week 4 Recap: 2/2/25 - 2/8/25: This week we focused on the final model on CAD, figuring out where the electrical board. Unboxing the materials we'v ordered, sorting those out, and checking up on other materials we need. Working also on the cage grabber. - Alizay U.
Week 5 Recap: 2/10/25 - 2/15/25: This week, we faced a lot of environmental challenges (snow days). Furthermore, we were continuing to have trouble with our broken CNC machine, thus resulting in us having to manufacture our parts manually until we figured out next steps. On the bright side, we completed and submitted our Impact Award on time. While we may have received various setbacks throughout our season so far, we continue to work hard to make up for the lost progress. Next week, we will extend our meeting hours in order to recoup and catch up on lost time. - Nikhil V.
Week 6 Recap: 2/17/25 - 2/23/25: After a rough and short last week, we strived to make up for our lost time. Throughout the week, we made progress on our different subsystems, including the elevator, algae end effector, and coral end effector. By the end of the week, we were able to mount both the elevator and coral end effector (which we named Cora) to the chassis. Our robot is finally coming together! Next week, we hope to add our algae end effector and get our wiring sorted out, so that we can get the official robot to our programmers. Our competition is only 2 weeks away! - Nikhil V.
Week 7 Recap: 2/24/25 - 2/30/25: This week, we strived to make the final touches on our robot. We finally put our different subsystems together and our robot started to form into its final stage. Furthermore, we were able to increase production of our buttons since we got materials for them as well. Next week, we would like to give our programmers a chance to ensure that the robot works properly.
Season recap: 1/4/25 - 3/30/25: Gears, Goals, and Growth: 1099's Season is Wrapped Up!
This build season we expanded our team with many new members. Throughout the past few months, we experienced many setbacks such as our CNC machine breaking, weather-related delays (snow days, power outages, etc), and problems with shipping. Despite our challenges, Team 1099 worked together and persevered. We completed the season with victory in imagery at Hartford.
