Culturally responsive teaching (CRT) is an approach to instruction that responds to the sociocultural context and seeks to integrate the cultural content of the students in shaping an effective safe learning environment. The cultural content ( such as the behaviors, interactions, historical experiences, underlying expectations, and values of students) includes aspects such as experiences, knowledge, events, values, perspectives, and history from all types of representations across all demographics.
CRT is a pedagogy that acknowledges, responds to, and celebrates the cultures of all students and incorporates the cultures into aspects of learning. CRT can be validating, comprehensive, multidimensional, empowering, transformative and emancipatory.
The first steps teachers can take to become a culturally responsive teacher is to educate themseleves.

With the growing diversity in public education classrooms, making sure teachers reach all students has never been more important. As classrooms become increasingly diversified, teachers must use culturally responsive teaching practices to address diversity and cultural differences, establish relationships and encourage inclusivity. This study explores the literature on culturally responsive teaching methods and practices and their impact on students.
