What is color guard?
Modern Color Guard has evolved over the years into a sport that’s a form of Dance Theater. It can use props, along with movement, to express dynamic passages in the music accompanying the show. Modern color guards use flags, sabres, rifles, batons, swing flags, and a few other pieces of equipment, as well as a mix of ballet, jazz, modern, and contemporary dance. It is a physically demanding activity, but anyone can do it!
During the marching band season, is an extension of the marching band and is traditionally the visual representation of the music. The marching band begins practice in the summer and into the early weeks of November. BASH also runs a winter program, where instead of a football field, performances take place inside the space of a typical basketball court. This year, we anticipating starting winter training and rehearsals in December and the competitive season will begin at the end of January / early February.
