Data Collection
During the summer of 2025, I set up my experiment and collected my data! I assembled a homemade fish trap made of recycled materials and put it to the test against a well-established manufactured trap. I had to think critically and remain persistent to overcome finicky fish, but I successfully gathered a data set by early autumn.
Research Paper
In the fall of 2025, I analyzed my data and wrote my research paper—a detailed account of the scientific process I went through during my project. Through my statistical analysis, I discovered that my trap was similarly efficient to the industry standard. My findings support the validity of the use of homemade traps as an inexpensive and environmentally conscious alternative to manufactured traps.
