What is the Campus Safety and Mobility Office?
CSMO is the department responsible for managing traffic flow, pedestrian safety, and security personnel deployment within the Ateneo de Manila University campus. They serve as the central authority for coordinating logistics and mobility requirements for all university events and daily operations

CSMO struggles with manual coordination for event details as they are currently are scattered across various emails, spreadsheets, and point persons. This fragmented approach leads to over 50 hours of wasted labor each week, as staff spend a lot of time cross-checking information and holding meetings. Without a central place to store and access data, the team is forced to respond to issues as they happen instead of preparing for the university's increasing traffic and security needs.
The EMPS is built on a Django framework and a Supabase PostgreSQL database, hosted on Google Cloud Platform using Docker containers for consistent deployment. It acts as a technical bridge, ingesting traffic data from computer vision projects and processing it with a custom logic engine to calculate impact scores and personnel requirements. By automating PDF generation and integrating with the Google Sheets API, the platform converts these digital calculations into standardized deployment plans in order to inform physical field operations with real data.
The EMPS is designed as a scalable foundation for the CSMO. To move from a successful Proof of Concept to a permanent university asset, our roadmap focuses on technical institutionalization, inter-departmental integration, and data-driven intelligence.
To make this possible, we ensure a formal handover to the ALIVE Laboratory, so that future student teams have the technical documentation and lessons learned to continue building on this foundation.
