Is Generative AI rapidly developing at an overwhelming pace? Like most technological advancements, Generative AI provides new and improved offers that allow for greater convenience if used properly. However, prior to being able to attain such convenience, an individual must learn how to navigate through Generative AI and maximize its usage.
Generative AI has become a common discussion in modern-day society as its increasing usage amongst students and teachers universally has sparked debate on whether or not it directs to positive results on students’ proficiency in school and should be adapted by the Philippine field of education. In particular, as the Philippines education system faces continuous challenges that put into question the quality of education accessed by Filipinos, it is significant to assess how the implementation of Generative AI in schools can help students and teachers progressively improve learning. Should we really allow fear to withhold the Philippines from Generative AI and stick to traditional methods in such modernity we face today? Keeping up is the way to go. Based on Generative AI’s flexibility and wide scope of knowledge and abilities, responsibly integrating it with the current curriculum would be a beneficial investment to the Philippines’ educational sector. Thus, it should not be feared but rather exercised.
Generative AI offers personalized content which can then cater to a variety of people, promoting inclusivity in learning. If students used it to access personalized learning content, then this could allow them to learn and understand beyond what they are being taught in school. It is difficult for schools to fully meet the diverse needs of all students. On the other hand, Generative AI can tailor content and materials based on students’ inputted preferences on what forms of learning is effective for them.
Generative AI offers multiple creative ideas on a wide range of topics. If teachers used it to help create their lesson plan, they can accomplish it within a quicker period of time and make use of remaining time to focus on other important matters that can improve quality teaching. Generative AI assists teachers by capturing ideas that save time and reduce workload from solely relying on themselves and manual research. Teachers have made known that they commonly consult with Generative AI in coming up with motivational activities and designing lesson materials as these help them implement and revise ideas that improve students' learning and overall attention.
