Description: The purpose of this presentation was to research an invention and explain its significance today. My group chose the invention of the 9-1-1 call and described how and why it was invented, the positive and negative effects, and the global implementations.
Reflection: I think the information we shared was well researched and interesting to the audience. However, I think we can work on making eye contact with the audience and our body language.
Reflection: Through this process, I realized that I was able to look back at my failures and no longer feel bad about them. Instead, they are moments that I learned from and ultimately has made me a better person. This exercise forced me to reflect. I was even able to laugh at my failures and see them in a funny light. I noticed that as a whole, most of these failures are not affecting anyone today. Even if it did feel like the end of the world at the moment, it is something most people don't think much about anymore. They were able to process it and overcome it. No one has let this failure get in their way, which I think is very impressive. I think I can use failure to my advantage by treating it as an opportunity to learn and grow as both a student and a person.
Summary: My Moth Story was about my time cementing a public restroom during my service trip to the Dominican Republic. During my time I met a little girl in the community who reminded me to find joy in the little things.
Reflection: During my presentation of this story, I think I did a good job thoroughly explaining the story and connecting to the audience. I think to improve I should speak slower, take my time, and be more confident. Overall, I think this was a very beneficial assignment and has made me more confident with my public speaking.
