Haitian Dance Workshop with Jean Appolon

For the past three years, I have had the opportunity to attend performances and workshops hosted by Jean Appolon Expressions. These events hosted in the Collins Center explore the history of Haitian identity through an expressive mélange of dance styles: Haitian folkloric, African, and contemporary. Notably, the 2022 interactive workshop featured live drummers, creating a lively environment that complemented my previous experiences in Western-style dance classes.

Global Summit 2023

The 2023 Global Summit brought over 50 AHS Global Pathways students to Old Town Hall for a day of collaborative workshops. After having fun constructing pinwheels out of world maps and going on a scavenger hunt downtown, we gathered together to brainstorm eco-friendly alternatives to existing infrastructure in Andover. For example, we looked at storm drainage and ways to minimize erosion on our roads.

Hispanic Heritage Month

For Hispanic Heritage Month in 2022, I joined the Students with a Goal leadership group to organize a procession of events that celebrate Latin American culture. Alongside peers, I created posters for over a dozen famous Americans of Hispanic descent to line our hallways and call attention to the month. During an H-block, I led workshops to make papel picado and create day-of-the-day calavera prints using foamboard and block printing ink.
