At Student Government we are in charge of managing fundraisers around the school and organizing school events like the pep rally. The organization meets every Wednesday at 3:00. As well I'm in the school improvement council which meets every month with the principle to talk about the future of the school. Being able to be apart of the student government at AHS has allowed me to see different perspectives and learn a lot about how the Town of Andover is ran. As well I was able to participate in many discussions on student issues as well which has led to me becoming more confident in advocating for things that I feel are important to me.
At the Andover Youth Center I participated in teaching a free film class to a bunch of students that go there after school. It involved making scripts and filming using different techniques. Through this they made funny stories that they then filmed as a group collaboration. Participating in this was a lot of fun as my friends and I all have a passion for film creation and being able to go and teach people younger than us is really cool because it might be there introduction to the idea of film making. Overall teaching at the youth center has been very fulfilling and fun as an experience.
At the South School + Bancroft campuses in Andover I've worked there as a group leader to supervise over the kids that go to the after school program there. Through this I often created crafts and played games to build teamwork and teach lessons. Everyday that I went there after school I always was extremely excited to go out and run around. Being able to talk to them and organize activities was always a lot of fun and I enjoyed it a lot. While being there I learned a lot about leadership and understanding others when they need help.
