Grad Check: Make an appointment with your Amphi Counselor to be sure that the classes you are taking will lead to graduation and keep open the opportunity of attending college after high school (even if you choose another route).
Create your FSA-ID. This needs to be done BEFORE you do your FAFSA. Do this ASAP. You will need to know your Social Security Number to do this. (Questions about this? Reach out to your Counselor, Mr. Parham or your Gear Up Coach.)
Connect with your Gear Up Coach to talk about your interests, schools, programs and majors, military or other ideas that you want to discuss related to planning for life after high school. Do this early and often.
Sign up for your Agent. All Seniors and Juniors are eligible to get a Success Agent that you can text with questions about college, scholarships, or even questions about your math homework. The agents are all college students or recent college graduates. The sign up instructions are on the Amphi Gear Up webpage.
Complete the FAFSA beginning on October 1st. To complete this, you will need your FSA-ID, and your parent's federal income tax return for 2019. (Questions about this? Reach out to your Counselor, Mr. Parham or your Gear Up Coach.)
Apply to colleges and universities. Even if you aren't sure about what you want to do after high school, applying and getting accepted keeps options open.
Sign up field trips to schools and businesses to explore academic majors and possible career paths.
Scholarship searches: Amphi High has their own Scholarship Bulletin. Also look at scholarships directly on the university or college website.
Take virtual campus tours, attend college and/or military presentations and talk to the university admissions representatives. Work with your counselor, Mr. Parham or your Gear Up coach for more information.
Update your resume. Use awards, honors, community service, volunteer hours, club activities and class projects as work experience and resume material.
Show up to class everyday.
Maintain your grades.
Do you need a letter of recommendation? Before you ask your teacher or counselor to write one, consider using this document. It will help them include the information you need for the letter. You can also use this to help with scholarships, college applications and more.
