What is the FAFSA?

FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

You will need to complete the FAFSA application in order to qualify for financial aid. Most colleges want their students to complete the FAFSA.

(If you are undocumented, you should NOT complete the FAFSA. You can still find money to pay for college. Start by visiting these websites: scholarshipsaz.org and the metropolitan education commission.)

But, before you complete the FAFSA, you have to create a log-in (FSA-ID).

• You need your Social Security Number.

• You need to know your address.

• You need to know your Date of Birth

One of your parents also needs an FSA-ID to electronically sign your FAFSA later.

(If your parent is undocumented, you can still complete the FAFSA on your own.)
