LESSON 1
WEATHERING
WEATHERING
It is the process by which rocks, minerals, and organic matter are broken down.
WHAT IS WEATHERING?
It is also known as physical weathering. This happens when rocks are subjected to explosion, excavation, construction, grinding, and continuous pressure of dripping water.
This involves the decomposition or decaying of certain rock components. They can quickly get dissolved and washed away by water. The change in the composition of rocks makes them break down easily into smaller bits or pieces.
