Weddings and marriage are of great cultural and social significance to the Bugkalot people, reflecting their traditional beliefs and values. Weddings are a time for elaborate ceremonies and rituals to honor ancestral spirits and wish happiness and success for the newlyweds. Shamanic rituals are held to ask for guidance and protection from the spirits, while offerings are given to show respect to ancestors and seek their blessings for a happy marriage. Bugkalot wedding festivities include traditional music, dance, and feasting to bring relatives and neighbors together in celebration of this special event.
