This was the beginning of the first gaming event held in the name of Shogun Squids. This event was to be held near the senior classrooms (rooms#211) in November of 2020 and had approximately 22 people in attendance. Admission prices were $20 if no gaming peripherals were brought or $10 if you brought your own. We held two tournaments that night: Smash Bros and Call of duty. The winner of those had received a trophy made by one of our members Tobias Maiden. Overall the event was a major success. We had an amazing turnout and learned a lot about event hosting along the way.
After the success of the first game night, we decided it was about time to give our event a name. After several suggestions, we eventually chose the name Stalemate. Deciding the event should occur on the () and should be $10 across the board. We put up posters and advertised the event to 7th grade all the way up to 12th grade. We kept the location from the previous location in the Senior Room (room #211). In our never-ending effort to improve, we went to the people who attended the previous event and asked what they would like for the next event. With an overwhelming request, we added cheese and pepperoni pizza. With concessions, pizza, and several tournaments, the game night was a wonderful success. We even had one of our previous tournament winners return to win again and he won another tournament with ease. In the end, we made an incredible $237 and each person interviewed post-event said they were incredibly happy with the event and that they wished everyone else could have been there to enjoy it with them
