The Shogun Squids merged from an idea at the beginning of our senior year in high school. We were tasked with creating a project that would incorporate Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), as well as find things that align with our team’s personal strengths and passions. A lot of our group members were people with interests in creative art, design, and communication. The conversation developed as we each laid out our ideas. We thought back to a time where we had an idea of starting a gaming X-class. It was pitched as a part of our Forge-On project but unfortunately, it never reached fruition.
We decided to recycle that same idea and make it better than before.
