There are currently 314 e-sports programs and investments up to 750 million dollars just in 2017; Including the sponsors would go up another 250 million. We can estimate that 1.5 billion was contributed to colleges and teams alone. There are colleges like Albright college that have already Implemented this program, falling under programs the likes of prominent sports. With interest in e-sports growing at an alarming rate through YouTube, Twitch, and in-person/online Tournaments. For example, Nationally speaking, e-sports viewership tops 27 million watches e-sports during 2014, and the NBA peaked at 15.5 million that year. People and colleges have been invested in the program more than ever, recognizing e-sports can improve life skills development: management, teamwork, work ethic, and even camaraderie and sportsmanship.

Each year, the Adobe Design Achievement Awards are presented for up to $5,000 to college students aged 18 years or older enrolled in an accredited higher learning institution who enter a unique design project in the categories of web design, game art and design, digital publishing, animation, motion graphics, photography, illustration, or print communications. Along with the scholarship funding, winners will receive Adobe Creative Cloud membership, a student pass to the Adobe MAX event in Los Angeles, and a year-long mentorship with an industry professional.

For young artists desperate to influence the world with their talents who lack the financial means to do so, the World Studio AIGA Scholarships are granted for up to $6,000 annually for full-time matriculated undergraduate or graduate students at accredited U.S. universities pursuing a career in one of the design/art disciplines to fulfill their creative passion. Applicants must have American citizenship, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, demonstrate critical financial need, and display great potential in any area of interactive design.

Annually, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) Foundation distributes up to 30 scholarships for $3,000 each to graduating high school seniors and current college students who are pursuing degrees leading to careers in computer and video game arts. Applicants must be women or minority students, be enrolled or accepted in a full-time undergraduate program at an accredited four-year university, possess U.S. citizenship, and maintain a GPA above 2.75.

Administered through the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, the Mark Beaumont Scholarship Fund will grant two $2,500 awards annually for full-time undergraduate students with at least sophomore status who are pursuing careers specializing in executive leadership, law, marketing, public relations, or business development side of the video game industry. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.3 or better, submit two letters of recommendation, and write a two-page letter describing their goals in interactive entertainment.

With the mission of encouraging the most active gaming enthusiasts to pursue higher education while participating in e-sports or competitive gaming at the highest level, the Scholarship for Gamers Honor Scholarship is presented for $2,500 annually to college-bound high school seniors with the highest academic credentials. Applicants must rank in the top 25% of their graduating class, have a minimum GPA of 3.3, be enrolled in a rigorous curriculum, be regularly involved in the gaming community, and possess high in-game rankings.

The eSports Club at Maryville University provides a competitive, yet friendly online gaming environment. Players hone their skills with the help of some of the best players in the country and receive assistance in preparation for the professional leagues from Maryville staff. Each game features one varsity team and JV teams. There is no cap on the number of teams, but 10-12 teams for each game are anticipated. eSports participants are eligible for a $2,000 gaming scholarship. Scholarship Name: Randy Pausch Scholarship for Game Designers, Developers and Producers
Description: The Dr. Randy Pausch Scholarship, established by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, awards four $2,500 scholarships to students attending accredited universities. The scholarship honors Dr. Pausch, who was a professor of computer science, human-computer interaction and design at Carnegie Mellon University and spent sabbaticals designing user interface technologies at companies like Walt Disney Imagineering and Google. Qualified scholarship applicants must be planning to pursue a career in game design, development or production; be enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university (high school seniors are not eligible); and have a minimum GPA of 3.3.
