My scholastic journalism experience started as an acne-ridden, hoodie wearing, shy 12 year old starting at my middle school newspaper. Timid, awkward, and clueless, I had no clue what journalism would mean in my life just a few short years later. As a student journalism, my eyes have opened to the vastness of the world, and how key we are in the grand sphere of life. Now a multimedia editor, I have grown accustomed to working with different platforms to create engaging content. In the multimedia section I have worked on our publication's podcast, making sure I can upload on a consistent and timely basis. Now, as an editor, I try to spread my knowledge to all members on staff. This has allowed me to find ways to promote multimedia as the future of journalism. Journalism has helped me become a social person, allowing me to connect with peers and authority alike. Also, as Marquee copy staffer, my eyes have been opened to the importance of fact and name checking, since our work is geared to our audience, who trust us to get the facts right. I hope the culmination of these experiences can help me in the future, no matter what career I choose.
