National Student Leadership Conference invitation to represent Prestonsburg High School at one of the 2020 National Student Leadership Conference (NSLC) held on many prestigious campuses throughout the United States of America.
National Honors Society ceremony was February 5, 2020 at Prestonsburg High School. I received the award and was invited to become a member because I met all of the national and local guidelines. The guidelines were a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better throughout my 10th grade year.
Kentucky High School Athletic Association “Academic All-State” First Team Football. First team honors those student athletes who finished their sports season with a 3.6 or higher grade point average.
KHSAA State Wrestling Competitor Certificate (5th in Region). The regional tournament is held each February and the top five wrestlers from that event qualify to compete at state in March of each year.
Junior Varsity Wrestling State Champion (152 weight class). This event was held at Louisville Male High School in Louisville, Ky. It was a 16-bracket double elimination tournament for sophomores and freshmen.
Football team “Discipline Award” voted by teammates for three years straight. Players are encouraged to vote for someone who they look up to and they considered the most disciplined role-model on the team.
Dr. Chandra Varia School Board Member Award for Athletics and 4.0 GPA maintained throughout the entire school year. The promise of a certificate was promised to the student athletes who maintain a 4.0 GPA throughout the dance season.
Advanced Placement (AP) English Literature and Composition. This course and examination were offered to me during my sophomore year by the Advanced Placement Program. After passing the standardized final exam at the end of the school year I received 3.0 college credit hours.
Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES) program provides scholarships to students who earn at least a 2.5GPA each year of attendance at a certified Kentucky high school. They see it as the better you do in high school, the more you earn toward college. So far, I have earned the maximum amount possible of “KEES” money possible.
In recognition of my leadership potential and exemplary citizenship, I was nominated by my school’s guidance counselor to participate in the 2020 Ambassador Leadership Summit. After registration and what seemed to be a life-changing educational experience (including ways to develop leadership skills, to learn effective college application strategies and more) summer classes and programs were cancelled due to COVID-19.
As one of the youngest members of Friends of Jenny Wiley, I was awarded a certificate for my consistent volunteer work. This group meets once monthly to help restore the beauty of our lake and state park grounds. We have been responsible for placing recycling bins throughout the state park and picking up trash to restore its beauty.
I was awarded an attendance certificate from the teacher/sponsor of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. We met every Wednesday morning of the school year 15 minutes before school began for prayer time. To earn the attendance award, a student can’t miss more than three prayer meetings a year
