Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO
The part of the body that is closely related to aperture is the eyes and pupils. They each change their size to let different amounts of light in.
The smaller the aperture, the lesser amount of blur. The higher the aperture, the bigger the blur.
Aperture affects the field of depth by having it be more blurry the more aperture you give the camera or be less blurry the less aperture you give the camera.
This is an example I found with what I think is F2.8 aperture. It has a single focus with a blurred background.
This is an example I found with what I think is F16 or higher aperture. It has multiple focuses and has a slightly blurry background.

The advantages of having a higher ISO shoot at a basketball game or a nighttime football game is that you can get better pictures by letting more light in the camera allowing you to capture the best photos in low light.
The author suggested that you stick with the base ISO most of the time to help you get the best quality in your photos.
The auther suggests that you move the ISO higher in cases where you are at a place with little to no light. Sometimes a higher ISO is necessary for some photos like his example of the geese photo.
I found this photo that I think has the ISO of 3400. It has a lot of light exposure in a dark night.
I found this photo that I think has the ISO of 200. It has enough light that you don't really need a high ISO.
