Weeks 8 - 10: Place Value
Fractions Progressions task - comparing fractions with the same numerator. When comparing fractions with the same numerator (top/first number), you need to look at the denominator (bottom/second number) to see how many parts make up each whole. The bigger the number of the denominator, the smaller the parts of the fraction are which is why ¾ is greater than ⅜.
The task that has been shared with your child on Google Classroom has two versions - one with diagrams and one without. They can watch this video up to 5.20mins for help too.
Finding Fractions of a Set task - a different version of this task will be shared with your child if they have had trouble editing/filling in the answers online.
Fractions Progressions task - find fractions of a set e.g. 1/6 of 36 = 6. An assignment has been shared with students on Google Classroom. When it is completed and turned in it will count as evidence towards one of the fractions maths progressions. It would be great to see all students attempt this assignment. This is the same assignment is last week, so if you did not try it then we would like you to give it a go this week. For those who have completed it already you will be able to find some extra tasks on Google Classroom.
