This term we will be focusing on:

Weeks 1-5: Narrative Writing

Weeks 6-9: Poetry Writing

All students will have a range of progressions based on their individual needs, which will include some of the following:

Y5 - Writing:

• Make changes to writing to improve clarity and add effect, often in response to feedback. 

• Use knowledge of spelling patterns, prefixes, suffixes and root words to spell unfamiliar words. 

• Write simple and compound sentences, using varied beginnings and lengths that are grammatically correct and complex sentences that are mostly correct. 

Y6 - Writing 

• Self evaluate and seek feedback about writing. 

• Spell all Essential Word Lists words correctly and make attempts at difficult words. 

• Show a good understanding of all basic spelling patterns and rules.

• Write a variety of sentences showing some control over grammar rules.
