This term we will be focusing on:
Week 1-3: All about us. Writing e-astTTe. Learning about different types of poetry.
Week 4-6: Poetry writing.
Week 7-10: Information reports (planning, writing, publishing and presenting).
All of our writing tasks will closely align to our topic this term which is 'connecting with our local environment'.

Writing Progressions Term 1
Writing progressions will differ from student to student but may include the following:
Year 5
Organisation
Plan writing using different planning tools that meet the purpose.
Vocabulary
Use words and phrases that are specific to the topic and purpose of writing.
Year 6
Organisation
Choose from different planning tools to meet the purpose
Vocabulary
Deliberately select specific vocabulary that is appropriate to the topic, purpose and learning area
Week 1-3: Students will look at and learn about different styles of poetry focusing on the structure and language features that each of these include.
Week 4-6: Students will beginning to plan and write different types of poems which make links to our local environment.
Week 7-10: Students will finish the term looking at different types of information reports. They will then plan and write their own report on a topic of their choice which links to the topic of our local environment.
