Question: What is Comprehensive Community Services (CCS)?
Answer: Comprehensive Community Services is a recovery oriented program that assists individuals in designing a plan of mental health and/or substance abuse supports and services to promote their journey of making their lives better! CCS is available to consumers with mental health or substance use issues across the lifespan. Flexible and individualized services are available to Barron County residents which facilitates psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery.
Question: Can I pay out of pocket to have my child work with a Strive Wellness provider? What if I'm not enrolled in the Barron County CCS program? How else can I work with one of your providers?
Answer: Unfortunately, Strive Wellness does not yet accept private pay or insurance based services. We exclusively contract with Barron County programs at this time. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Question: My Strive Wellness CCS provider has a professional degree in occupational therapy, speech therapy, or physical therapy and they are providing services within the CCS program to my child. My child is already working with an OT, SLP, or PT; does that mean we are duplicating services? Should I request for OT, SLP, or PT to discharge when my child works with you?
Answer: No, for several reasons. Although OT, SLP, and PT services can look similar to CCS services they are completely different things. Your Strive Wellness CCS provider is following the CCS program's service array requirements, limitations, and processes - which are regulated differently than occupational therapy, speech therapy, and physical therapy service delivery. CCS provides an opportunity to expand services beyond traditional outpatient needs within a psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery model. Strive Wellness CCS providers use their degree to inform their practice; however, they abide by and follow service guidance through the individual county CCS program. Oftentimes, skill development occurs in natural context locations such as your home, within the community, or wherever you/your child go. We provide "Individual Skill Development" and "Psychoeducation" services and encourage you to continue to consult with your family, primary care provider, OT/SLP/PT, or other team members for guidance when deciding how many or which service fits your family's personal needs.
Question: Our child/family is really struggling, why are we enrolled in this program to have you playing with my child? "What if that is not enough?"
Answer: This is an excellent question and we are grateful for the intentionality and thoughtfulness in seeking services to meet your needs. There are a variety of pathways, options, and supports available to you designed to address needs in different ways. Please consider the "low load, long duration", influence-based, and developmental approach Strive Wellness offers. We have learned that "you can't hurry healing." We specialize in providing a collaborative and relational approach to mental health skill development and education for children and adults within the Barron County Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) program and acknowledge that healing is not guarenteed nor within our control. There are numerous data that point to the benefits of play, please refer to the following: “Play is a major means by which children's development and learning are initiated and through which development is achieved and learning is mastered.” (Bergen, 1988). Please ask your wellness service provider more questions on this topic and seek to find comfortability if their specific service delivery makes sense for your family and your needs. You can always check with a different wellness service provider within Strive Wellness to identify if their "therapeutic use of self" and individual pedagogy (the method and practice of teaching, especially as an academic subject or theoretical concept) suits your needs better.
