Education

How can you tell if a stream is healthy? See what lives in a stream.  Macroinvertebrates can tell us a lot about water quality.  These small water creatures are not only neat to observe, they are an important indicator of healthy water, and important to water ecosystems.  LoWG volunteers are happy to talk about water critters, and how pollution affects not only the water quality, but life within in the water.  Hands-on, interactive education is a great way to learn.  Bugs are neat!

LOWG volunteers have presented educational programs at many venues including  Sachs Butterfly House, St. Louis Earth Day, area schools, parks, and for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.  Fish aren't the only things in our streams.  A host of living things call our streams home, each one playing an important role in the ecosystem. There is a lot happening underwater!
