Course Information:

The Year 9 Science programme is an exciting and vibrant new learning environment where the young Scientists will be able to explore Level 4 of the Science curriculum within and beyond the Silverstream Environment.

A thematic approach will be taken to encompass each of the five strands of the New Zealand Science Curriculum throughout the year as each class explores through a variety of learning strategies including inquiry and project based learning programmes.

We use SOLO Taxonomy to allow our students time to reflect on their learning and these rubrics are used alongside templates to give chances to reflect.

Topics Include:

The Living World, The Material World, The Physical World, Planet Earth and Beyond, The Nature of Science.

$30 contribution towards subject resources and field trip

Year 9 Science Option to develop the scientific, problem solving and critical thinking skills required for Science and other connected disciplines.

Bridge building • Pulleys and levers • Catapult design and reverse engineering • General science extension skills
