Gale Virtual Reference e-books collection. Hundreds of reference books are available online 24/7 through this site. You do not need a password to access this at school. You will need one from home.
Encyclopedia Britannica Online: Use this site as a good starting point for any research. Includes sections for several different grade levels. From the home page you can chose a level to start searching. Password needed.
World Geography and Culture Online boosts the study of countries, places, peoples, and geography. This site makes it easy to study all areas of a country, with facts at a glance and in-depth coverage. Password needed.

The Connecticut Digital Library/Research IT CT (formerly iConn): Among the items available are Magazines and Newspapers; People, Places and Events (Discovering Collection and Wilson Biographies Plus. To access from home, you'll need a public library card. When asked, enter that card number to link to the databases.

Webster's Online Dictionary: Search for more than just words or phrases.You can use the online Thesaurus or Spanish-English Dictionary. Try the link for word games too.
Webster's Visual Dictionary: A quick glance at the index is all it takes to connect words with images. Search the themes to quickly locate words, or find the meaning of a word by viewing the image it represents.
