Prospective Students

ARE YOU:

THEN YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE!

Welcome from Ms. Gill

My name is Emily Gill and I am the theatre teacher, director of the department, and director of productions at Central.    You can take a wide variety of theatre courses at Central - including three levels of acting - as well as participate in three theatre productions each year. Last fall we produced The Little Mermaid musical, in the winter we had our student-directed cabaret, and in March we wrapped our spring play, Clue.  We are excited to now be working on Hadestown: Teen Edition for our fall 2024 musical.  Participation in the productions is open to all students and you do not need to be enrolled in a theatre course to be involved.  - Ms. Gill

"Alex Ferderer and Emily Gill are
the musical theater dream team.

They put together one of the best high school musical productions ( The Addams Family ) that I have seen in a very long time. They’re not only good at their craft, their artistic bar is high and they take no nonsense from the kids - which all parents love.  I would encourage any student to take part in their programs. They will become
a better human, a better performer, and they will not regret it."    - Vanessa Gamble, parent of Central theatre program alum

All are Welcome to Participate in Central's Theatre Program

Whether you are new to acting, have prior performance experience, or wish to work as part of the tech crew or pit orchestra for theatrical productions, there is a place for you here in Central High School's Theatre Program.

Read below for ways that YOU can get involved:

Take a theatre class

We offer a wide range of theatre classes, both for beginner and developing actors.  Find a full listing of classes that students can register for and read complete details about each class on our Theatre Program page.

Audition to be a cast member in the fall musical, winter cabaret, and/or spring play

We encourage all students to audition for any or all of our stage productions.  Students are typically called upon to act, sing, and dance during the audition process.  More information can be found on our Theatre Program Page.

Join one of our tech crews

Our tech crews are essential to the smooth production of our musical, cabaret, and play(s).   Students can sign up to be a part of whichever area appeals to them, whether that be sets, costumes, make-up, lighting, props, sound, etc.  Find  more information about each crew on our Theatre Program page.

Join the pit orchestra for our fall musical or winter cabaret

Under the leadership of a student director, student musicians - often from Central's band and orchestra programs - read the musical score and play their individual parts in order to accompany the actors, dancers, and singers who are on stage.  Find out more details on our Theatre Program Page.
