Today, I worked on detailing Lilibet's face.
You may have noticed that I was detailing the eyes and then repainted them... I realized that they were a bit off and also too large, so I had to move them before I went too far. Since most of the detail is in the eyes, those need to be right.
Technique: I use my brush to eye-ball how things line up and at what angle they should be at. I hold it out in my line of sight to the photo, hold that angle as I move my arm over to the painting and see if everything matches. For example, did the corner of the ear line up to the end of the nose? Was the edge of the eye just to the left of that line as well?
It also works to help you see if the eye is equidistant or not.
